SUPRS 2019-20 Wing Supermodified Sim Racing Schedule Features 15 NASCAR Heat Dates
SUPRS
Goshen, IN – September 26, 2019… The Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), has officially released its 2019-20 Gold Crest Wing Supermodified Schedule, and although slightly refined from last year, the season still has a seven month schedule of 43 race dates in 17 different states and Canada. Of those dates, fifteen will use the NASCAR Heat sim racing platform, and two will feature the pavement modifieds of the ARL Super Heat Modified Tour.

Five new venues have been added to the schedule, and SUPRS will visit Wisconsin for the first time in their 16 year history. With the addition of the new tracks, several, including Rocky Mountain Raceways, and the long-standing Caraway Speedway have been dropped from the schedule.

Three of the new tracks added to the 2019-20 schedule are NASCAR Heat based including Orange County Speedway, Paved Quarter Speedway, and Berlin Raceway.

Season Starts October 1 with NASCAR Heat Race

The season kicks off with a NASCAR Heat show on October 1 and the 16th Annual Harvest of Speed at LaPorte Speedway. Kicking off the season at LaPorte is a tradition that dates back to the very first SUPRS sanctioned show in October of 2004. At that time SUPRS used the “PSTM” modification for NASCAR Heat by Mike Jackson. Today, the sanction uses it’s own mod but keeps the tradition of alive at LaPorte as a nod to their own rich history of NASCAR Heat format racing.

This race is the first of the 16 NASCAR Heat dates, and kicks off the SUPRS/HeatFinder.net Supermodified Challenge. The SUPRS/HeatFinder.net Supermodified Challenge is free and open to the public as long as drivers have registered on SUPRS website and joinedSUPRS at the Silver Crest level.

First Time at Real Supermodified Venues for Two NASCAR Heat Dates

While Berlin Raceway is one of the places that most supermodified fans would acknowledge gave birth to the real division, SUPRS has never raced there. This season changes that though as an older NASCAR Heat version of the track was recently found and is now on the schedule. The Wolverine 50 at Berlin, is the third race of the season and early indications are that this track, just like the real one in Marne, MI, is going to provide the racers with a fast, smooth run.

The stars and cars of SUPRS will stop at Orange County Speedway for the first time when they roll into Rougemont, NC for race two of the 2019 North Carolina Swing the last week of October. This track hosted a couple of real supermodified races in the early part of the 21st century when the International Supermodified Association competed there as part of their Southern Swing. Built by SpeedyMan11 from The Mod Squad, the fast, high-banked 3/8 mile track, has multiple grooves that should produce even better racing than Caraway did.

Here’s a Quarter

SUPRS 16th Anniversary Special will feature a first-time visit to the fictional Quarter Speedway. This track is one of the earliest built by Doug “Flash” Forgue, and is a banked quarter-mile track. Ironically, as long as the track has been in the SUPRS arsenal, it never made it to the schedule until this season.

The SUPRS stars will do battle in their NASCAR Heat supermodifieds using the “NHSM” modification on November fifth.

Date Changes for Parish Memorial, Vukovich III Classic

Two of the changes long-time fans will quickly notice is the moving of the rFactor based Dion Parish Memorial 62 from December to a slot that it occupied before, and the Billy Vukovich III Classic, which utilizes the NASCAR Heat platform to nearly the end of the season.

The 16th running of the race that honors the late Dion Parish, and is considered SUPRS most prestigious supermodified sim race, now takes place the second week into the season on October 8, 2019, while the Billy Vukovich III Classic at Mesa Marin Raceway moves from it’s long-standing slot in January to April 14. The move for both races helps align and refine the West Coast Swing.

Other NASCAR Heat Based Memorials Stay Put

The Terry Gibson Memorial continues in January on the 14th and 15th, and the Randy Witkum Memorial stays in March as the last race of the Keystone Nationals on the fifth. Both will use the NASCAR Heat sim racing platform.

All of the memorial races carry a guaranteed starter bonus for the winner that can be used at the season ending 16th Annual Summit Classic 125 at Madera Speedway in April.

Modifieds Added to SUPRS Schedule

After a successful co-sanctioned event in August for the SUPRS Mod 200 that was won by SpeedyMan11, SUPRS has added two ARL Super Heat Modified Tour dates to the schedule for 2019-20. These shows are open to the public without registration at SUPRS to anyone that has the tracks and modification by The Mod Squad.

The first date is a double-header with the supermodifieds at New Hampshire International Speedway. The Presidents Day Special on February 18, 2020 will see the supermodifieds run a 25 lap event, while the modifieds will compete will run 75 on the original NHIS that came with the NASCAR Heat game.

The second date falls at the end of the season as part of SUPRS 16th Annual Summit Classic 125 Week. The Ground Pounder Modified 75 is scheduled as the first race of the week on April 27, 2020 at SUPRS Madera Speedway for NASCAR Heat. It marks the first time that the "mighty mods" have been a part of the season ending Summit Classic Week for over five years.

More details are coming concerning these particular dates and possible others, but fans can learn more about the ARL and the Super Heat Modified Tour by visiting HeatFinder.

SUPRS races most Tuesday evenings with Hot Laps for each event starting between 8:00 and 8:15 pm ET, Drivers Meeting at 8:30 pm, Time Trials at 8:45 pm and Racing at 9:05 pm. For bigger shows including swings we often start earlier. Our shows generally take a little over an hour from start to finish. Our NASCAR Heat events utilize: 1x Wear/ No Caution Flags / Normal Mode.

Notes on Line Ups

Most of our shows use The Points Won Handicap System, whereby a driver accumulates points for his handicap. Simply speaking, the higher a driver finishes in Time Trials, Heat and/or Feature, the more points he will receive and the higher his handicap will be.

On most nights the Elite 8 (top eight time trial positions), or Fast Four (top four time trial positions), will not have to run a Heat Race. They are locked into top eight or top four positions of feature and are then inverted by Pill Draw, Fast Car Dash finish, Individual Pill Draw, or Points Won Handicap.

Drivers with less than four(4) events with SUPRS will start at the tail of each race regardless of handicap points. They will receive their handicap beginning with their fourth SUPRS race.

Rarely, will you ever see a straight up start from time trials in the heats or the feature with SUPRS.

Important Info on SUPRS Files

Most of the NASCAR Heat tracks we run are available from The Mod Squad. Once a driver has joined, we have an updated track pack for each season that is available for download via our website. All rFactor files are available through SUPRS Sync.
