The Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series (SUPRS) is proud to publicly release through The Mod Squad SUPR NHSM (SUPRS NASCAR Heat SuperModified - wing supermodified for NASCAR Heat by Hasbro Interactive).

This NASCAR Heat supermodified modification was built by Kevin “Shaker” Marine. Work originally began on this in August of 2005 and the eventual release in October of 2006, is the very first SUPRS mod built completely from scratch in-house for supermodified sim racing. It was also the first SUPRS mod to have more than one type of chassis.

With the generous help of several real life supermodified racers, as well as chassis builders
and mechanics, we have strived to make this mod fun to race and stable for online competition.

We hope you enjoy the mod and will be interested in learning more about “The Ultimate Short Track Race Car,” and the sanctions and tracks that regularly race supermodifieds.
We also hope that this mod encourages you to support the Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series.

NOTES:
-This modification was built to be run in NASCAR Heat “Normal” mode. You can run it in “Expert” and/or “Hardcore” but it’s likely that you will be disappointed as there is no way to accurately set weight percentages that a real supermodified would use. (up to 70% on the west coast style cars in real life).
-This is a one gear car like a real supermodified. You will have to shift from neutral through the gears to get to final modeled gear ratio.
-The cars, even though open-wheel, open cockpit, are built to take a good amount of abuse, which is maybe not completely realistic. But they will still lose the wheels if you hit hard enough. The car will take aero and body damage, so if you try to drive through your fellow racer or the wall, expect some car handling to change.
-These cars are built with what could be considered a side fuel cell. They carry enough fuel to go 125 laps at SUPRS Madera Speedway, 100 laps at SUPRS Sandusky Speedway, 100 laps at Mesa Marin. Supermodifieds don’t generally make pit stops, so you will find that for most features of 50 laps or less, if you DO make a pit-stop, there’s no need to refuel the car.
-These cars have rear-view mirrors. Real supermodifieds don’t. We recommend turning them off for a more realistic experience.
-You may feel like the car pushes, (oversteers), too much. A lot of this is due to running in normal mode. We remind you that “slower is faster” so work at backing up your corners until you hear little to no tire squeal. Also adjusting your in-game settings for throttle and steering overshoot helps a lot at many tracks.
-In-Game chassis selection should be considered visual only and have no bearing on performance of the car.

KNOWN ISSUES:
-This mod is designed for online racing. You will find that the AI may be a little weird. We didn’t spend a lot of time on those files.
-This mod was designed for older NASCAR Heat stock car and NASCAR Heat community tracks and tested using Jennerstown and Mesa Marin Speedways by Splashman as well as a variety of DSES “Paved” tracks. While, as of the 2018 public release, it has been race proven on many other tracks from the NASCAR Heat community, you may find that some just are not suitable for the SUPRS wing supermodified.
-There is a known issue with most of the models, while using in-car view, looking like the right front suspension is not attached to the wheel. Likewise, the solid rear axle will look the same in many cases.

About SUPRS:
The Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), was formed in 2004 as a way to promote real supermodified racing in the online sim racing world.
SUPRS is a series unique in its vision and goals inasmuch as it is dedicated to bringing new fans into the sport of supermodified racing by providing realistic
car design and racing formats based on short track supermodified racing.

SUPRS is the sole administering body of the Dion Parish Memorial Benevolent Fund for Supermodifieds. Through cash donations, this fund is used to give back to the drivers, teams, tracks, and fans that support supermodified racing in times of need.

About Supermodifieds:
So just what is a supermodified race car? What makes them so special that those in the know will travel hundreds of miles just to get a glimpse of the increasingly rare beast?
To understand why a supermodified is a race car that has no short track equal, all one needs to do is realize that this open wheel race car is very lightweight, and produces copious amounts of gut-wrenching torque and horsepower.
They are rare and exotic beyond imagination. No two are alike, the rules governing them are few and the fans that follow them are as knowledgeable and passionate as the drivers are brave.
Supermodifieds are Unique-
Nearly all supermodifieds are built by hand in the car owner’s garage using methods as old as the auto industry.
It’s not a simple task using a lathe by hand to ‘turn’ a part that you can’t buy off of the shelf and this is part of the reason there are so few supermodifieds in the entire United States and Canada.

Supermodifieds are Lightweight with Big Engines-
A supermodified is built around a 1½” tubular chrome moly steel chassis with about two inches of ground clearance. It has a minimal fiberglass and/or aluminum body for a total weight of between 1,650 to 1,850 pounds.
Put that together with a methanol fuel injected 468cu in. big block or 412cu in. small block engine that produces 800+ horsepower costing upwards of $40,000, and what you have created is a race car that has copious amounts of gut wrenching power.
Supermodifieds Use Offset Chassis-
Probably the most unique feature of this class is that the engine, as well as the driveline and rear end, is offset to the left side of the real center of the car.
Moving these parts to the left of center adds up to nearly 70% of tire sticking left side weight bias.
The Supermodified Wing-
On top of this massive powerhouse of engineering genius sits one of the main focal points for new fans.
For all supermodifieds, other than those raced weekly at the legendary Oswego Speedway,(which is in central New York and is considered “The Home of the Supermodifieds” by all in the division), is a very important feature; the wing. With the International Supermodified Association, Midwest Supermodified Series, Englewood Racing Association, the 350 Small Block Supermodifieds at Lee USA Speedway and Star Speedway and the west coast supers based mostly at Madera Speedway in the Central Valley of California you will see a 24 sq foot aluminum wing attached to the car.
The wing can be fixed, (solid mount), hydraulically, or pneumatically actuated and produces about 2200 pounds of downforce that allows better grip, handling, and extremely fast speeds.

With impressive statistics such as this it isn’t hard to see why the supermodifieds bring large crowds of people to the tracks they run at and arouse the most primeval instincts known to the motor sports fans.
This rare, exotic, ground pounding roadster produces some of the closest, heart stopping racing action around and rightfully lays claim to the title of
“The Ultimate Short Track Race Car.”
